Rolling along through the second day of summer here at the Gaines Farm... Although it has been a challenge to dodge the rain, we are moving along into what seems to be another great year. Our corn is up and growing nicely, although we started cutting and bailing hay on the 18th of May, the rain has slowed down our progress to finish the first cutting.
Progress, progress, at the call of mother nature.
We have been blessed with another group of Angus babies. What a thrill to watch them run and play together in their natural environment. What fun they seem to have playing as Momma, near by, munches away with one eye on her meal and the other on her offspring. They certainly do grow quickly on her warm milk full of exactly what is best for their development. From time to time they venture into the free stall barn curious to see what their 'human friends' are up to, with the maintenance or repairs on our tractors and equipment.
Life is beautiful this time of year. We are thankful for our good health, good friends, and a great environment to continue doing what we do best and love most.
